Highlights from the Critics’ Choice Awards
After Hollywood stars celebrated their favorite films and shows at the Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday night, the biggest winners made their way backstage for photos and interviews.
Amy Madigan, known for her role in “Field of Dreams,” surprised everyone by winning the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance as Aunt Gladys in horror film “Weapons.” She strolled into the winners’ circle with a glazed donut, though she eventually switched it for a silver trophy after some prompting from photographers.
“I’ve got a donut on my face! Oh, I don’t care!” she laughed, clearly enjoying the moment.
Lee Jae, the singer-songwriter from KPop Demon Hunters, celebrated after winning the Best Original Song award for “Golden,” alongside Mark Sonnenblick. He reflected on the song’s journey over the past year, saying, “The intent of this song is in sync with how I felt when I wrote it. For me, it was a hopeful song. It gave me hope that someday my dreams would come true. I still feel that.”
In the television category, “The Studio” was a significant winner, taking home awards for Best Comedy Series and recognizing both Seth Rogen and Ike Barinholtz for their acting.
During the press session, a moment of humor arose when Seth Rogen made a lighthearted mistake. Upon seeing Jacob Elordi walk on stage to accept the Best Supporting Actor award for “Frankenstein,” Rogen joked, “Did Elordi win? For playing Frankenstein?” Barinholtz was quick to clarify, “He’s not Frankenstein! He’s Frankenstein’s monster,” prompting laughter from those nearby.
As Gene Smart entered the press area, he was jubilant, pumping his fist and joking about the martini he had enjoyed during the festivities.
Jimmy Kimmel, who picked up the award for outstanding talk show, entertained the audience with questions about the photo process, playfully inquiring, “How does this work? You all take the exact same photo of me, and you compete to see whose photo gets used?” His observation generated laughter and a chorus of “yes” from the photographers present.
Not every winner made it to the press room afterwards. The team behind “One Battle After Another,” including Leonardo DiCaprio, skipped the photo opportunity after winning for Best Picture and Best Director. Timothée Chalamet also opted out after being awarded Best Actor for his role in “Marty Supreme.”
