How this humanoid robot learned to make coffee by watching videos

What if we told you that all you had to do was watch a video of a human making coffee and a robot would make it for you?

It's almost unbelievable, but it actually happened.

Thanks to advances in artificial intelligence, humanoid robots can now observe and learn from humans just like us.

The company that developed the coffee making robot

company behind This innovation is a diagramhas developed a full-body humanoid robot called Figure-01. This AI robot can walk, talk, interact with its surroundings, and can even learn new skills by watching videos.

How a robot was able to make coffee

Figure recently demonstrated how Figure-01 makes coffee using a Keurig machine. The demo took place at Figure's headquarters in San Francisco, where a human asked Figure-01 to make him a cup of coffee. The robot cheerfully replied, “Of course you can!” Then I headed to the Keurig machine.

The robot had previously learned how to imitate human movements by watching videos of humans making coffee using the same machine. A vision system was used to recognize the machine and its parts, and a motion planning system was used to coordinate movements.

I opened the hatch, inserted the pod, closed the hatch, and pressed the button, all by myself. They then waited for the coffee to be ready and allowed the humans to remove the full cup from the coffee machine themselves.

The entire process took less than a minute and the robot did not require any human assistance or guidance. They were able to perform tasks autonomously using only the video as a reference. This is an example of end-to-end AI where a neural network ingests a video and extracts a trajectory.

What this means for AI and robotics

This demonstration was not only impressive, but important and influential. It showed that Figure-01 added new autonomous actions to its library. This action can be transferred to other Figure robots running on the same system via swarm learning.

This means that if one robot learns something new, all the other robots can learn it too without having to watch the video. This makes the learning process faster and more efficient, and allows robots to share knowledge and skills with each other.

This demonstration shows that this learning process can be used for a wide variety of tasks, and that Figure-01 can teach you everything from peeling a banana to using power tools to creating works of art, all by simply watching the video. It also showed that it can be learned. Robots can learn not only what to do, but also why and how to do it, and how to adapt to different situations and situations.

The demonstration had just begun. According to Figure, 01 can now watch videos and do anything, and is constantly improving its features and performance. The company has big plans for the future and wants its robots to be more versatile, creative, and collaborative.

Figure-01 quickly goes to the kitchen to find a cup, makes sure the Keurig is plugged in and has plenty of water, presses a button to make coffee, and is able to bring it to the desk without spilling it. Now imagine being able to do it all while watching a video. and utilize their walking and language abilities.
