How to save your TikTok videos, data ahead of looming ban

Those looking to preserve their TikTok memories are in luck before it shuts down in the U.S. on Sunday.

Barring a last-minute turnaround, the popular social media app will be shut down by January 19 unless its Chinese parent company ByteDance sells it, after the Supreme Court unanimously ruled Friday to uphold the TikTok ban. It will no longer be available in all 50 states.

TikTok users can download their own videos, data including follower lists and direct messages, and videos of other creators.

How to download TikTok videos

To download individual videos, users go to their profile page, select the video, and click on the three lines on the right side of the screen. From there,[ビデオを保存]or send yourself an email to download the clip by Sunday.

You can also download it from the TikTok webpage on your laptop or computer. You can right-click on the video and select the “Download Video” option. This option likely means your video will have a TikTok watermark.

It will be a little difficult to get all the videos at once. There are also third-party sites available, but they offer varying levels of security.

Download TikTok videos using Chrome extensions

Chrome extensions are another option available. Searching for the common phrase “TikTok Downloader” related to performing this activity will help you find the appropriate equipment. To complete the download,[すべてダウンロード]you need to click.

When it comes to your data, the easiest way to do this is to tap the three lines at the top right of your profile page, then tap[設定とプライバシー],[アカウント]to select in this order. Then click Download Data.

You can follow the same steps on your laptop or desktop. You have the option to download all data or a specific amount. File formats vary between text and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON).

If the creator allows you to download the video, you may be able to save it if TikTok shuts down by Sunday.
