On Sunday, December 8th, the 3-9 New York Jets will travel to Miami's Hard Rock Stadium to take on the 5-7 Miami Dolphins.
Before the season began, both teams were expected to compete for a playoff spot. In the New York Post's Week 1 NFL Power Rankings, Aaron Rodgers' Jets are ranked No. 6 in football, while Tua Tagovailoa's Dolphins are steady at No. 11.
Entering Week 14, the Post had dropped the Dolphins to 18th place and the Jets to 27th place.
In Week 13, Jeff Ulbrich's Jets lost to the Seattle Seahawks 26-21. They got off to a strong start, taking a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and holding onto that lead into the third quarter. Unfortunately, Gang Green was completely outplayed by former quarterback Geno Smith, allowing 10 points in the fourth. This was their third consecutive loss, following a 31-6 loss to the Cardinals and a 28-27 loss to the Colts.
The Dolphins lost their most recent game against the Packers, 30-17. Tagovailoa had a great game, completing 37-46 passes for 365 yards and two touchdowns, but Mike McDonald's team was unable to maintain a lead against Jordan Love and Josh Jacobs.
