It has been 16 years since the U.S. and Canadian men’s hockey teams clashed in the Olympic gold medal game. However, they recently met less than a year ago during the inaugural Four-Nation Tournament.
Today, they will compete again for the Olympic gold, with mostly the same lineups from that pre-Olympic tournament last February. Canada emerged victorious in that encounter, taking the title with a thrilling 3-2 overtime win.
Fast forward to today, and here we are again, enjoying this classic rivalry, America vs. Canada, one of hockey’s most storied matchups.

On the other side, Canada is also yet to lose in Milan, though there are questions about captain Sidney Crosby’s readiness to play. Crosby missed the semifinals due to an injury but practiced on Saturday, potentially putting him in line for today’s game.
Crosby is well-remembered for scoring the crucial overtime goal that clinched the championship in the last Olympic matchup back in 2010.
