Huckabee Alleged to Have Overlooked American Attacked by Israeli Settlers Who Reached Out to Him

Huckabee Alleged to Have Overlooked American Attacked by Israeli Settlers Who Reached Out to Him

U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, is facing criticism for allegedly overlooking an American citizen who was assaulted by Israeli settlers.

On Thursday, Tucker Carlson, co-founder of Daily Caller, posted on X, accusing Huckabee of neglecting to provide assistance to the individual who, according to Carlson’s statement, was brutally attacked.

Carlson claimed that Huckabee was aware of the American’s identity and chose to disregard his requests for help. He expressed this in his post, implying a strong sense of outrage.

The video in question reportedly depicts three individuals in dark clothing and head coverings, brandishing sticks as they approach someone whose identity has been obscured.

In response, Huckabee contested Carlson’s allegations. He shared a timeline detailing the U.S. Embassy’s attempts to reach the injured American and his family, claiming that he had not ignored them.

Describing Carlson as “deranged,” Huckabee argued that Carlson preferred to make baseless accusations instead of seeking the truth. He mentioned that Carlson could easily get in touch with him.

According to Huckabee, the embassy’s American Citizen Services team had trouble communicating directly with the injured American, only speaking with his son in Chicago, who insisted on being the sole contact for the embassy.

The Daily Caller later reached out to the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem for clarification and was directed to Huckabee’s social media reply. They asked for further proof to independently assess Huckabee’s claims, but did not receive a reply by the time of publication.

Huckabee indicated that the embassy first received an email from the son on October 19, mentioning that his father was attacked at their home in Turmusaya and was being treated at a hospital in Ramallah.

That same day, embassy officials reached out to the son for his father’s contact details; however, Huckabee claims the son refused to provide this information.

Huckabee maintained that the embassy was proactive, following up with emails, attempts to call the son, and reaching out to the hospital, but to no avail.

His timeline suggests that on October 21, the son updated embassy officials that his father was undergoing surgery and promised to provide contact details for a relative in the West Bank, which the embassy ultimately never received.

Huckabee noted that the son expressed gratitude for the embassy’s support during this challenging time.

Requests for local contact numbers for the father or his uncle went unanswered, and officials did receive medical records and images of the father’s injuries from the son.

The ambassador stated they made another attempt to contact the hospital on October 23.

When calling on October 26, embassy staff again did not hear back from the son, who had been contacted to see if his family members had traveled to the West Bank.

Ultimately, Huckabee remarked that by the time of his response, they still hadn’t received any contact details from the son. He wrapped up his statement challenging Carlson to apologize once he recognized the reality of the situation.

The White House directed the Daily Caller to the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem when inquiries were made.

The Caller also reached out to the U.S. State Department but did not receive a reply before publication.
