We don't need rhythm to shake up politics.
Hundreds of people gathered on Staten Island on Friday for a post-Turkey Day “Trump dance” flash mob, declaring they want the dancing president-elect to kill major policy moves on day one.
As The Village People's “YMCA” played, more than 200 attendees reveled in the soon-to-be commander-in-chief's signature move: shimmy, swinging his hips and punching erratically in the air. .
“This dance says you don't always have to take yourself so seriously,” said Staten Island Borough President Vito Fosella, who cut the rug at the event. “Dance takes on a life of its own.”
President-elect Donald Trump's campaign boogie went viral earlier this month after a professional athlete borrowed it as a celebration.
Social media has since been flooded with footage of people copying the move, from celebrities to fraternity brothers.
“It's really iconic,” retired firefighter Jimmy Aylward, 59, said of the dance. “I just want to see his inauguration.”
Aylward said he supports President Trump's immigration plan to enact mass deportations and expand the U.S.-Mexico border wall immediately after taking office.
“They have to go first,” he said of illegal immigrants.
Trump supporter Jennifer Tagliavia, 56, said she shook her leg to celebrate Trump's landslide victory.
“I think everything he does goes viral,” she said of the dance.
He added that Trump should correct the flood of migrants coming across the border from day one.
“Get them out. If you want to come here, come legally,” she said.
The next president should also work on revitalizing the economy and cracking down on criminals.
“Stop hugging thugs and fix crimes,” Tagliavia said.
She was wearing a T-shirt that read “Extreme Maga Garbage Bag,” a mockery of Biden's gaffe about Trump supporters being “trash.”
Other flash mob participants boogieed to the beat, winding through conga lines and waving Trump flags. Prizes for the dancers included a Midland Beach Splaza trashcan trophy and a Trump doll.
A flyer for the flash mob reads, “Shake off your Thanksgiving turkey with a dance that will take the nation by storm…it's going to be amazing.”
President Trump began nullifying “YMCA” petitions at campaign rallies earlier this year, spurring a wave of media coverage and imitations on social media.
On Thursday, He posted a video on X He flew out from Türkiye and showed off his dancing skills.
