Hundreds of Texas national security guards participated in the oath ceremony to help them implement immigration laws with agents from the US Border Patrol.
US Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks posted a video to X. The committee will empower security guards with Title 8 Immigration Bureau to assist Border Patrol agents along the Texas-Mexico border.
Earlier this month, Breitbart Texas' Randy Clark first reported on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and acting CBP Commissioner Pete Flores. The MOU trained Texas National Guard soldiers in the power to “execute all immigration agents' duties” as long as they were accompanied by Border Patrol agents or immigration officers. The memorandum requires one federal immigration officer or representative for each of the four security guards.
“The latest grant from the Immigration Arrest Bureau adds at least 3,000 Texas Army National Guard soldiers to the ATF, FBI and US Deputy Squadrons, and is now supporting the Department of Homeland Security in enforcement of federal immigration laws. “I'm doing that,” Clark wrote.
This week's security guard oath will put the MOU into operational situation. State soldiers can act as troop multipliers for Border Patrol agents and immigration officers.
