Hundreds of protesters gathered outside Tesla's showroom on Saturday to showcase their sloppy over CEO Elon Musk and their work with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to reduce federal spending.
The “Tesla Takedown” movement has launched a series of demonstrations held in Washington, DC, Boston and elsewhere, with the aim of encouraging investors to sell Tesla shares and to encourage electric car owners to abandon the brand. In his role as a senior adviser to President Trump, Musk has supported efforts to shut down the U.S. International Development Agency and the Regulatory Consumer Financial Protection Agency.
The tech giant questioned the ethical status of the event as it frequently spotted on leaders and South lawns, highlighting the unique Tesla character next to Trump, where three cars parked in the White House on Tuesday.
“So there's no car company that has been started by a successful car company in the last 30 years. I don't think so,” Trump told reporters.
“But we want to punish him in a financial sense because he finds all sorts of horror that has happened to our country. And I think it's very unfair. So I just wanted to make a statement. I'm going to buy it now.”
