Biden Family in Nantucket for Thanksgiving Preparations
Joe Biden and his son Hunter were seen enjoying a stroll through downtown Nantucket, accompanied by the former president’s grandchildren, as they prepared for their Thanksgiving gathering.
On Wednesday afternoon, Joe, Hunter, and former daughter Ashley Biden were spotted exploring a Tony’s shop on the Massachusetts island along with Hunter’s four kids.
This was the first sighting of the Bidens together since leaving the White House in January. As they walked, Joe stopped to interact with a street fiddler, happily dropping a $20 bill into his open case.
He was wearing a baseball cap and gave a thumbs-up to a photographer nearby. Hunter, standing close to his father, smiled as he watched the photographer capture the moment—especially significant given that Joe had recently undergone radiation treatment for advanced prostate cancer.
After some time, the family headed to a quaint cafe called Lemon Press for lunch, which offered a variety of pricey snacks. They eventually split up, and Hunter was seen walking with his wife, Melissa, with his arm around her shoulders as they moved along Main Street.
Earlier that morning, Melissa was busy with a barre class at Studio Nantucket alongside Jill and Ashley Biden. The trio also indulged in some snacks at Lemon Press afterward. When Melissa departed to find Hunter, Jill and Ashley stopped at a nearby flower shop, returning with a bouquet of blue hydrangeas.
The Biden family often frequents the vibrant downtown area but also has a tradition of visiting billionaire David Rubenstein’s lavish $34 million mansion on the island, where they’ve celebrated the past four Thanksgivings.
Rubenstein, who was an advisor to former President Jimmy Carter, is a co-founder of the Carlyle Group, a major private equity firm, boasting a net worth of about $4.3 billion.
Last Thanksgiving, Joe had pardoned two turkeys named Peach and Blossom before heading to Nantucket. In a twist this year, former President Trump humorously pardoned the same birds again, claiming Joe’s “automatic release” of them was “totally invalid.”
