Hunter Biden’s Reaction to Barack Obama at Fundraiser
Hunter Biden revealed he felt a surge of anger after witnessing Barack Obama pull his father, President Joe Biden, off the stage at a Hollywood fundraiser last year. He mentioned that the incident almost prompted him to confront Obama directly.
In an excerpt from journalist Jonathan Karl’s forthcoming book, “Retaliation: Donald Trump and the Campaign That Changed America,” Hunter recounted the moment during an interview months later. He described how Obama grabbed his wrist and guided him toward the curtain when Joe froze for about ten seconds in front of a star-studded crowd.
“I almost jumped on stage and said, ‘Please never do that to the president of the United States again, never again,'” Hunter expressed, emphasizing his frustration.
He added, “I knew it would become a meme. That really, really pissed me off.”
Indeed, Joe’s moment of hesitation, which occurred at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, went viral, raising concerns about his age and mental sharpness during a series of public appearances where he appeared disoriented.
The Hollywood event managed to gather over $30 million in donations for Joe’s campaign, taking place just a week and a half prior to a challenging debate with Donald Trump that ultimately pressured Joe to suspend his re-election efforts shortly after.
George Clooney, a prominent actor and major Democratic donor present at the fundraiser, later reflected in a New York Times piece that the president was not the same figure he remembered from previous years.
“He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020,” Clooney commented, underscoring the contrast between Joe’s past and current presence. “He was the same guy we all witnessed in the debates.”
Journalists Alex Thompson and Jake Tapper noted that Clooney was “deeply shaken” when Joe did not recognize him, despite their long-standing acquaintance.
Previously, Hunter had taken issue with Clooney’s remarks regarding his father, heightening calls for Joe to reconsider running in the 2024 election.
“Forget him. Forget him and everyone around him,” Hunter critiqued Clooney on Andrew Callahan’s YouTube show. He added, “I agree with Quentin Tarantino—George Clooney isn’t a great actor; he’s a brand,” dismissing Clooney’s connections with Obama as irrelevant to the situation.
