Hunter Biden IRS whistleblowers promoted at Treasury

IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler allegedly the Justice Department slowed down the investigation into Hunter Biden – was promoted to the Treasury Department's leadership position on Tuesday.

The Treasury said in a press release that the two, who spent years investigating the Biden tax evasion case, came to the department as senior advisers and “helps promote much-needed cultural reform within the IRS.”

“These veteran civil servants have joined us to help government agencies focus on gathering, modernising and customer service so that American taxpayers can provide a hard-working, more effective and efficient IRS experience,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent said in a statement.

“Shapley and Ziegler moved forward in 2022 and then faced political persecution by the IRS, including several attempts to trust their reputation and ruin their careers,” the release continued.

The pair were key witnesses to the House GOP each probe to former President Biden.

Shapley and Ziegler said the agency failed to pursue the most aggressive charges against Hunter Biden, allegations that the IRS and the Department of Justice had competently denied.

During the GOP investigation, prosecutor David Weiss was raised to special advisor and ultimately imposed a tax on California's Hunter Biden, as suggested by two IRS agents.

Hunter Biden pleaded guilty in a California tax case after Weiss' convicted of a Delaware gun case, but his father forgives him on his way out of office.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) celebrated the news of the pair's new positions and promoted his role in the process. He noted a letter he wrote to President Trump last month, a letter praising whistleblowers and a second that urged Bescent to place Shirley and Ziegler in leadership posts, citing “courage, courage, expertise, integrity.”

“As I mentioned in a letter to Secretary Bescent last month, reviving whistleblowers that opposed it sends a clear signal that pointing out fraud will help change the culture of our bureaucrats,” the statement.

Shapley and Ziegler said in a statement that they are “very grateful” to Bessent, Grassley and other legislatures “for their leadership and trust.”

“We are motivated by one singular mantra. Do the right thing and do the right way. It wasn't easy, but having a clear conscience is worth the effort,” they continued in a joint statement. “We are grateful that Secretary Becent is giving us the opportunity to effectively utilize our experience and first-hand knowledge to eliminate waste and reform the IRS.”
