Hunter Biden joins White House meeting, befuddles Biden staff: report

President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, participated in a meeting with the president and his aides at the White House this week, following a Biden family meeting at Camp David on Sunday.

NBC News reported, citing multiple White House officials, that Hunter Biden has accompanied the president to meetings with his top aides, privately advised his father and interrupted meetings and calls with the president.

A White House source told NBC News that the president’s son’s unexpected appearance at the meeting has confused some White House staff, with the reaction being, “What on earth is going on?”

The report noted that while it is not unusual for Hunter Biden to attend events at the White House, it is unusual for him to attend meetings with aides.

Hunter Biden was convicted of gun charges in federal court in Delaware last month but remains indicted on felony tax charges. As in the Delaware case, the president’s son has pleaded not guilty to those charges.

Hunter Biden was also reportedly one of the strongest advocates for his father to continue in the campaign at a rally at Camp David following the president’s poor performance in the presidential debate, leading some critics to argue it creates a conflict of interest for the president to appoint his son as a top adviser.

Former Rep. Charlie Rangel, 94, has questioned whether Biden should be in a nursing home rather than the White House.

“This is purely and simply a huge interest in his father remaining in office and pardoning not only Hunter but Joe and the rest of the family, and possibly Merrick Garland as well, for their involvement in the cover-up,” Mike Howell, executive director of the Heritage Foundation Oversight Project, told Fox News Digital.

Meanwhile, White House press secretary Andrew Bates downplayed concerns about Hunter Biden’s surprise attendance, telling NBC News that the president’s son “returned with the president from a family weekend at Camp David and began working immediately with the president on preparing his speech.”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre similarly downplayed the concerns during a briefing on Tuesday, telling reporters that the president is “very close with his family.”

“This week is the Fourth of July holiday,” she said. “As you all know, he spent time with his family and reported at Camp David. Hunter came back with him and went with him to meetings and preparations and speeches.”

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
