Convicted Biden enjoyed Nobu in Malibu on Thursday as his embattled father, President Biden, lost his train of thought during another gaffe-riddled press conference on the East Coast, calling Kamala Harris “Vice President Trump.”
The scandal-plagued eldest son, 54, was photographed leaving a swanky beachside restaurant just after 5:30 p.m. Pacific time or 8:30 p.m. Eastern time, hiding behind aviator sunglasses. The president had just finished what aides called a “big-boy press conference” following his disastrous debate performance.
It was not immediately clear what time Hunter, who was recently convicted of federal charges for lying about drug use to buy a gun, arrived at the celebrity restaurant or whether he met anyone there.
It was also unclear what the son had been eating while his 81-year-old father was bombarded with questions for nearly an hour at the end of NATO’s annual summit in Washington DC.
Biden’s rare solo news conference was designed to thwart Democratic calls for him to resign after his performance at the June 27 debate completely derailed his 2024 reelection campaign.
This also came hours after the president confused Russian President Vladimir Putin with Russian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a separate event.
The commander ended up exacerbating concerns by making contradictory statements, forgetting questions and giving incoherent answers on stage.
At one point, Biden confused Vice President Kamala Harris with former President Donald Trump, drawing gasps and groans from many reporters seated in the auditorium.
“I would not have chosen her as my vice president if I didn’t think President Trump was fit to be president,” Biden said.
Hunter’s decision to visit the upscale West Coast restaurant co-owned by Robert De Niro came after sources told The Washington Post earlier this month that he had been present at a White House meeting with his father amid calls for him to drop out of the presidential campaign.
“Hunter doesn’t trust his father’s old aides,” one source said. “Hunter wants to be there and the president isn’t going to say no.”
Biden’s eldest son and other members of his family, who support his continued campaign, have reportedly blamed the president’s longtime advisers for the debate debacle.
Meanwhile, Nobu, where Japanese A5 Wagyu beef sells for $38 an ounce and king crab tempura goes for $58, appears to be a favorite with hunters.
A year ago, as news broke of the explosive newly released FBI informant file detailing a $10 million bribery allegation against him and his father, he was photographed leaving a restaurant, visibly unfazed.
