Hunter Biden’s criminal tax trial will begin on Sept. 9 in California, the federal judge overseeing the legal proceedings announced on Monday.
Biden is accused of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes and filing false tax returns between 2016 and 2019. He is accused of using the money to fund a lavish lifestyle, spending millions on drugs, escort services, luxury cars and other expensive items.

He is charged with three felonies and six misdemeanors.
The trial was originally scheduled to begin on June 20, but U.S. District Judge Mark Scarce, who is presiding over the case, granted Hunter Biden’s request to postpone the trial.
Federal prosecutors earlier this month had initially asked Scalsi to deny Biden’s request to postpone the trial after Biden’s defense team agreed to a June 20 trial date last year.

“Defendants have erroneously elected to appeal without jurisdiction and therefore should not be granted a postponement, and this defendant is no exception,” the court documents state. “The defense has given several other reasons for wanting to postpone the trial for 77 days, none of which justify a postponement. This motion should be denied.”
