Disappearance of American Woman in the Bahamas Raises Concerns

A missing American woman’s daughter has claimed that her mother’s husband previously threatened her life before the couple vanished in the Bahamas. Carly Aylesworth expressed her worries about her mother, Lynette Hooker, and her husband Brian, 58, during a search operation they undertook at sea on a Saturday night. While the investigation unfolded, she received a voice note from Brian.

“I have this feeling something has happened,” Aylesworth commented, indicating her concerns about the situation. “There’s a history here with him strangling her and making threats about throwing her overboard. The fact that something like this is happening makes me think there’s more here than meets the eye.”

Bahamian authorities report that Lynette, 55, fell from the dinghy while attempting to reach their yacht, Soulmate, and was swept away by strong currents.

Despite the circumstances, a criminal investigation has not been initiated, and no charges have been filed against Brian, who hasn’t spoken publicly about the incident. Aylesworth noted that alcohol seemed to alter Brian’s behavior, claiming, “He would act smarter, be more aggressive, and seemed to enjoy getting under your skin.”

The couple had left Hopetown after sunset on Saturday, making their way to Elbow Cay. Strangely, Aylesworth pointed out that Lynette was holding onto the dinghy keys despite Brian typically being the one in charge of them. “Why was she the one with the keys? That just doesn’t add up,” she expressed.

Aylesworth mentioned that her mother had never been unsteady on the boat, which adds to her suspicions surrounding the incident. Following the fall, Brian reportedly rowed to Marsh Harbor Boatyard, arriving at 4 a.m. the next day where Lynette was then reported missing.

In the voice note Aylesworth received from Brian, he stated, “Hello honey, it’s your dad. Hope Town Search and Rescue just told me they found the flotation device I threw in when your mom fell.” Brian alleged that he last saw his wife swimming toward shore.

As the search evolved into a recovery mission, Aylesworth expressed her fears for her mother’s safety. “With each passing hour, I struggle to believe she will return alive. Swimming for that long is going to be incredibly tough,” she stated, although she still clings to a sliver of hope that her mother could be on a small island somewhere.

Lynette and Brian were known for sharing their maritime adventures on social media under the name Sailing Hookers. Just hours before her disappearance, they posted a photo of a small boat secured to a pier, captioning it with, “Aren’t you going anywhere for a while?!”
