A California man who allegedly stabbed himself and his wife woke up from surgery and immediately confessed to killing his mother as well, police said.
Frank James McMillan, 63, went to Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo on Saturday where his wife was being treated, then stabbed her at least once before using the knife on himself, police and the hospital said. Both were said to be in critical condition.
“After Mr. McMillan's surgery, he voluntarily confessed to killing his own mother at home before the hospital attack.” This was announced by Vallejo Police.
Officers entered her home and “found Ms. McMillian's biological mother deceased inside,” the department said.
The name of the deceased mother was not immediately released pending notification of her family, and it was not immediately clear how she was killed.
McMillan is charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his wife and murder in the death of his mother.
Both Mr. McMillan and his wife are expected to recover from their injuries.
Once a medical evaluation is completed, McMillan will be taken to the Solano County Jail, police said.
Police did not provide details about the circumstances that led to the assault or the motive for the killing.
