I lost 84 pounds using Mounjaro — now I feel awful when I see my bare body.

A woman’s self-esteem has taken a hit alongside her significant weight loss.

The British mother, Lucy Davies, lost 84 pounds by using Mounjaro, but now feels “unpleasant” about her appearance, especially when she’s not clothed.

Lucy began her journey with Mounjaro about a year ago and remarked that the excess skin left behind makes her feel uneasy.

“Nothing seems to be tightening,” she shared, reflecting on her experience. “It’s been an amazing journey with Mounjaro, and I wouldn’t trade it, but honestly, I feel worse about my body now than I did when I was growing up.”

Davies’ discomfort became especially apparent during a family outing to Legoland.

While celebrating her son’s birthday, she opted for high-waisted shorts and a top, but once the heat became unbearable, she took off her shirt for some relief. Unfortunately, that moment only added to her feelings of distress.

“Yesterday felt like six stones heavier,” Davis expressed. “It honestly ruined the day for me.”

She candidly admitted, “I’ve never felt so disgusting in my life.”

Despite her transformation from a size 22 to a size 12, she finds herself more dissatisfied with her body than ever, diminishing the joy of the occasion.

This experience highlights the emotional toll that can accompany significant physical changes. Even when the results might seem positive on the outside, the path toward self-acceptance remains challenging.

“Yes, I’ve shed a lot of weight, but I still don’t feel happy, so I guess I have a long way to go,” she said.

Having utilized Mounjaro for nearly a year, Davies noted that the unexpected aspect of her journey was dealing with the extra skin that came with her weight loss.

Davies recognizes the need to engage in more physical activity to help her feel better about herself.

“I think I need to hit the gym, no matter how much I dislike it,” she admitted. “Yesterday was just one of those days where I felt terrible throughout.”

Sadly, body dysmorphia is a common issue for many individuals who lose a substantial amount of weight.

“Mounjaro doesn’t handle the mental aspects of body transformation,” noted one commenter.

Another individual shared, “I lost around 8 or 9 stones over a few years but still despise my body. No one’s discussing post-weight loss dysmorphia.”

One TikTok user remarked, “I’m still grappling with it. The distortion in how you perceive your body doesn’t match reality.”

Another added, “I relate after losing 13 stones; my mind didn’t keep pace with my body. I can’t see what others see. I went from a size 24 to a size 8, and confidence is still a struggle.”

Others chimed in to highlight the importance of surgical options for dealing with excess skin after significant weight loss.
