‘I was living a double life’: Breaking free from LGBTQ sin

Richard Matthews is a former gay influencer and speaker who was fired from his job after posting about his faith. Now, he shares his testimony and how the Lord saved him from sin, including his battle with pornography addiction.

“When I was 10 or 11 years old, I was bullied because of the way I spoke, being called feminine and gay. You were like, 'Why do people call me this? What does this mean?' I thought about it and decided to look it up on the internet, but sadly that led to me being exposed to gay porn.” allie beth stuckey Number of comments that I can relate to.

Matthews later admitted to becoming addicted to pornography and “kept hiding it.”

“I can't say I had a desire to be in porn, and I didn't necessarily have a desire to be homosexual or have a same-sex relationship, but as I continued to agree with the enemy and his sins, the Bible says, , it says that sin becomes lawlessness,” Matthews told Stuckey, adding, “Lawlessness is sin that is repeated and becomes your identity.”

After years of identifying as gay, Matthews joined a recovery group at his church.

“Then I learned that the Lord loved me, because I had always thought that He hated me, and that He did not want me to do what He wanted me to do. I didn’t think I could respond,” he told Stuckey, noting he was still fighting. He has “the idea that he could potentially be a gay Christian.”

“Nothing was working. My porn issues weren't resolved, but I still had these desires and attractions,” he explains. “So I prayed in January of 2023, and I said, 'Lord, I feel like I can't change. I need to come to You and be completely myself. “I feel like I can't give.'' I said, “If being gay and being a Christian isn't true, let me know and I'll accept it.''

“When I said this to the Lord, I heard Him say to me, “Come,'' it is written in the Gospel of Matthew, “Who are those who are weary and burdened? But come to me, and I will give you rest,' he continues. “And I'm so grateful to him for listening to me. And he was able to really give me a new heart and change me. And all those desires and everything. It started disappearing around the month.”

“I woke up one day and felt like I hadn't looked at porn in two weeks. So it was an act of God that he literally started to change my life and really change my desires. It was a mercy, a blessing, a miracle,” he added.

Matthews isn't just worried about himself.

“People don't really know that there is a spirit behind the agenda that is happening against our country and against our children, which is homosexuality,” he explained, adding. As it is written in the Bible, we must overcome these dominations by the power of the Lord. ”
