Elon Musk has criticized Bill Gates, claiming that Gates’ involvement with Doge has “killed the poorest children in the world.” He went further, suggesting that he wouldn’t trust Gates with his children, referencing Gates’ past connections with Jeffrey Epstein.
“Bill Gates has met with Jeffrey Epstein, so how could I rely on him for my kids’ welfare?” Musk stated during an interview at the Bloomberg Qatar Economic Forum on Tuesday. “I definitely wouldn’t trust him as a babysitter,” he added.
The remarks come amid ongoing controversy surrounding Gates and his previous relationship with Epstein, a convicted sex offender who had connections with the elite before his death in 2019.
Musk’s harsh comments follow Gates’ critical interview with the Financial Times earlier this month. During that interview, Gates expressed concern over Musk’s actions, stating, “The images of the wealthiest man harming the poorest kids are certainly not pleasant.”
Gates highlighted a significant reduction in USAID funding, which he attributed to a conspiracy theory circulating among Musk’s associates.
Musk swiftly refuted Gates’ assertions, challenging him to “provide evidence” to support his claims.
In February, Musk’s agency announced major cuts to USAID funding. A White House spokesperson characterized Musk as a “patriot” on a mission to eliminate waste and fraud.
The escalating rivalry between Musk and Gates has been ongoing for years, with notable tensions arising in 2022 when Musk discovered that Microsoft had shorted Tesla stocks.
Gates’ connections with Epstein have been frequently scrutinized. Reports indicate that the two met multiple times even after Epstein had pleaded guilty to soliciting minors.
Through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Gates has managed a vast charitable endeavor focusing on various issues, including gender equality.
After their first meeting in 2011, Gates reportedly noted in an email that Epstein’s lifestyle was quite different from his but admitted it was somewhat appealing. A Gates spokesperson clarified that his comments about Epstein were more about decor than any approval.
Gates now expresses regret over those meetings, labeling them as “big mistakes” that allegedly contributed to the deterioration of his marriage.
In 2022, Melinda French Gates noted that her decision to divorce was partly due to her discomfort with Gates’ relationship with Epstein, which she made “clear” to him.
There’s also a report from the Wall Street Journal claiming that Epstein once attempted to blackmail Gates regarding his association with Mira Antonova, a younger bridge player.
Gates has denied any financial support or payments related to Antonova or Epstein’s threats.
Interestingly, Musk has acknowledged a brief encounter with Epstein, admitting to a 30-minute meeting at Epstein’s Manhattan residence and attendance at a dinner party featuring both Epstein and Mark Zuckerberg.
The complexities surrounding their relationships with Epstein reveal layers of implications for both figures as they navigate public perception and personal connections.
