Bad Bunny to Headline 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show
There’s buzz around the upcoming 2026 Super Bowl, especially after Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny was announced as the headliner for the halftime show. This has sparked various reactions, particularly among those following immigration debates.
In a recent interview, former Trump advisor Cory Lewandowski made headlines himself. He indicated that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would be present at the event, emphasizing their commitment to enforcing immigration laws. “We know how it is under this administration,” he stated, suggesting that no one would be safe from enforcement at the Super Bowl.
Lewandowski criticized the NFL for selecting artists like Bad Bunny, stating that some of them seem to have a negative view of America. He argued that the entertainment should aim to unite people instead of creating divisions. “Whether it’s a Bad Bunny concert or something else, we’ll ensure public safety,” he asserted.
Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has stirred up some controversy. His selection comes despite his previous criticism of ICE and the Trump administration. This summer, he shared a video on social media condemning ICE agents, which raised eyebrows among some fans and detractors alike.
Additionally, some critics pointed out a perceived contradiction; while Ocasio hesitated to perform in the U.S. out of concerns for ICE, he’s now set to perform at a major American event. “I had my reasons for not performing in the U.S. before, but they weren’t rooted in hatred,” he clarified in an interview. “There were concerns, and that was something I took seriously.”
As discussions continue, it’s clear the Super Bowl is shaping up to be more than just a game this year. The mix of entertainment and serious socio-political commentary could make for an intriguing halftime show.
