ICE arrests in Massachusetts capture undocumented immigrants charged with offenses

Exclusive: ICE Arrests Several Illegal Immigrants in Massachusetts

ICE recently apprehended a number of illegal immigrants in Massachusetts, a move prompted by the state’s sanctuary policy that allowed their earlier release into the community. Chillingly, some of these individuals have serious convictions, including murder, assault, and solicitation to commit violence.

“Even though sanctuary policies aim to disrupt ICE operations, our dedicated law enforcement is actively removing gang members, drug dealers, and other violent offenders from Massachusetts streets. Many of these arrests involved individuals who were released by local authorities,” said DHS Deputy Chief Tricia McLaughlin. “These sanctuary policies are like playing Russian roulette with American lives. While state leaders free criminal aliens, the federal authorities, led by President Trump and Secretary Noem, are working to apprehend and deport them.”

One notable case involved the arrest of Clever Lasso, an illegal immigrant from Ecuador, on May 5, 2025. Lasso had previously been convicted of soliciting murder and had received a one-year prison sentence. Unfortunately, the Brockton District Court didn’t hold Lasso, choosing to return him to the community instead, as reported by DHS.

Brockton Court has not publicly commented on the situation. A spokesperson for Massachusetts courts stated that officials cannot detain individuals solely based on federal immigration requests, referencing legal restrictions that prevent cooperation with ICE.

To comply with Massachusetts regulations, judges cannot assist or obstruct ICE’s responsibilities under federal law, which means court officers won’t intervene to prevent ICE arrests, though they cannot delay them either.

In another case, Senat Dufren, an illegal foreigner from Haiti, was arrested by ICE on May 7, 2025. He had been previously apprehended for assault and had a history of violent behavior, including charges against a pregnant victim.

ICE has also detained Lusbel Lopez Feliz, an illegal immigrant from the Dominican Republic, on May 10, 2025, who faces multiple charges related to drug distribution, including serious accusations of distributing heroin and fentanyl.

These situations raise questions about local policies and their implications for public safety. It’s a complex issue that places the emphasis on how communities handle those who are undocumented versus the potential dangers some may pose. The balance between ensuring safety while respecting legal frameworks is delicate, and it seems to stir quite a bit of debate.
