Yankee Stadium Treats Fly Off the Shelves
Last weekend at Yankee Stadium, a new dessert sensation really caught the spotlight. Within just one inning, the mini-dessert “Chicken” buckets—ice cream styled like fried chicken drumsticks—completely sold out. It seems fans couldn’t get enough.
These desserts, made from vanilla ice cream enveloped in caramelized white chocolate and garnished with candied cornflakes, were a hit from the moment they hit the stands. Displayed ahead of the team’s 2026 season, they quickly became a viral topic on social media.
This $10.99 treat, served in a mini souvenir bucket, attracted long lines. Some fans reported waits exceeding 20 minutes, desperate to sample this limited-time offering.
“After the response at Media Day, we realized there was huge interest, and it sold out by the first inning of the game on Saturday,” noted Michael Margolis, a senior director with the Yankees, in a statement after the April 4 game.
Initially, the team expected their supply to last through a six-game homestand against the Miami Marlins and Oakland Athletics.
Fans who managed to grab an order were taken aback by how closely the dessert resembled actual drumsticks. One thrilled fan remarked, “It really looks and feels like a drumstick. I wouldn’t have known the difference.”
Even veteran Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay lauded the dessert, declaring it “nothing better than this” in one of his video reviews, attributing its rapid sell-out to its exceptional quality.
Online, many fans expressed disappointment at missing out. One Instagram user commented on Kay’s post, saying, “Everything is sold out here at the stadium,” and wondered how Kay managed to try it.
Cameron Guzzo, a content creator from Massachusetts, gave the dessert an 8 out of 10 during its preview, describing it as a fun idea. However, he did mention a downside—the messy experience when the drumstick broke, almost causing a mishap.
The Yankees’ culinary team, led by executive chef Robert Flowers, is focused on enhancing the game-day experience with innovative food options. The mini-dessert “Chicken” buckets are just one part of a larger menu roll-out for the 2026 season, which includes unique burgers, desserts, and international fare.
Other notable items on the menu include bacon cheeseburger dumplings and apple pie nachos, following in the footsteps of past hits like the “99 Burger,” named after star player Aaron Judge.
This growing trend of extravagant stadium food has fans buzzing, with other teams also introducing creative options like the Houston Astros’ “brisket donuts” and giant tortillas from the Miami Marlins.
For those eager to try the ice cream dessert, the Yankees announced they will update their followers on Instagram when the item returns to stock. Until then, fans will need to wait for another chance to taste this viral treat.
