ICE Detains Australian Citizen Accused of Voting in Several Federal Elections

ICE Arrests Australian National for Voting Violations

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has detained an Australian citizen accused of participating in multiple federal elections illegally.

Denise Natalie Migliore, who holds Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) status in Australia, allegedly claimed U.S. citizenship to register for voting in a federal election knowingly.

Reports suggest that Migliore voted in the federal elections in Louisiana during both 2022 and 2024. This follows an indictment by a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Louisiana on June 11, where she faced charges for illegal voting and making false statements to register.

On July 1, agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New Orleans arrested Migliore at a federal court in New Orleans after a detailed investigation.

Lauren Biss, the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, commented on the arrest, stating, “This Australian-born individual is now facing federal charges for falsely claiming U.S. citizenship and voting illegally in two elections.”

Biss acknowledged the efforts of ICE personnel in bringing Migliore to justice. She noted, “Her arrest is a testament to the hard work of our law enforcement team. Our message is clear: foreigners who vote in U.S. elections will face serious consequences, including criminal charges and deportation. Only Americans should choose our leaders.”

This particular case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Vetters from the General Crimes Division, with HSI and the FBI involved in the investigation.

In related news, just last week, the Department of Justice revealed the arrest of a New Jersey man for voting in a federal election while not being a U.S. citizen. This comes as part of an ongoing effort to target foreign nationals who engage in voting violations.

Additionally, Marian Charitn, a 62-year-old Slovakian national, faces charges for illegally voting and making false claims during his U.S. citizenship application, having registered to vote in New Jersey for the 2022 midterm elections under false pretenses.
