ICE Detains Unauthorized Migrants at Louisiana Racecourse and Pennsylvania Building Site

Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducts operations at workplaces stretching from Louisiana to Pennsylvania.

On June 17, ICE agents raided Delta Downs Racecourse in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. The operation led to the arrest of 84 individuals, primarily illegal aliens and those with prior criminal records.

Among those detained was 68-year-old Jose Ibarra from Mexico, who had previously been deported and was convicted of drug trafficking. Another individual, Enrique Gonzalez Moreno, a 36-year-old from Mexico, had two DUI convictions. Additionally, 40-year-old Rolando Cabrera, also from Mexico, faced multiple charges, including aggravated battery and sexual battery.

Notably, a 51-year-old named Mario Ortiz was arrested; he had a lengthy criminal history with 17 counts against him, including aggravated assault and illegal re-entry after previous deportations.

The individuals apprehended during the raid are currently held at the Lake Charles Border Patrol Station in Louisiana, while investigations into the employment of illegal foreign workers continue.

In another incident on June 11, ICE agents operated in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where they arrested 17 illegal aliens working at an apartment renovation site.

The arrested included 13 Venezuelans, two Mexicans, one Ecuadorian, and one Nicaraguan. The site, undergoing restoration, is not currently occupied by tenants, and many of the workers were hired through subcontractors.

“We remain committed to safeguarding public safety and economic stability,” said Edward Owens of ICE. “These operations target illegal employment practices that can harm American workers and undermine our labor market.”
