DHS Reports 830% Increase in Attacks on ICE Agents Since 2024

Discussions have emerged regarding new laws that would prevent ICE agents and law enforcement from wearing masks, as highlighted by financial correspondent Lydia Moynihan and National Review senior author Noah Rothman.

In a troubling incident, immigration and customs enforcement have filed charges against illegal immigrants accused of attempting to murder a 15-year-old boy and sexually assault his mother.

Gildardo Amandor-Martinez, age 36, allegedly attempted to assault his girlfriend, Aleida Lopez, at her apartment in Morehead, Kentucky, on Sunday.

During the struggle, Louis Lopez, the 15-year-old victim, was reportedly shot three times while trying to protect his mother. The suspect also confronted Lopez’s minor daughter, who was armed.

Illegal immigrant accused of murder had a history of sexual assault in Costa Rica

Amandor-Martinez has been charged with murder, first-degree assault, and first-degree attempted rape.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, he had attempted to enter the U.S. three times before successfully crossing through the southern border in 2021, where he was classified as a “gotaway” at undisclosed times and locations. Under the Biden administration, there have been numerous reports of “known gotaways,” with 670,674 recorded in fiscal year 2023 alone.

Critics claim the Biden administration is releasing dangerous illegal immigrants

Deputy Chief Secretary Tricia McLaughlin expressed outrage, stating, “Fifteen-year-old Louis Lopez tragically died trying to defend his mother from a foreign criminal. Gildardo Amandor-Martinez is a rapist and murderer who should not have been in the country.”

Continuing, she critiqued the Biden administration’s border policies, saying, “This allowed a criminal to roam freely and commit such horrific acts against families.”

Rowan County High School expressed grief over Lopez’s passing in a Facebook statement, describing him as a hardworking student. “We extend our deepest sympathies to those who knew him. Our offices remain open for support throughout the summer,” the post added.

The DHS noted that detainees will be utilized to prevent the release of potentially dangerous individuals before they are handed over to federal authorities.

Meanwhile, Morehead’s Communications Director, Jenny Frazier, shared that the city is collaborating with state and federal agencies in the ongoing investigation. “It’s still active,” she added, “and any specific questions about ICE should be directed to them.” The city is not involved in enforcement decisions, which are at the federal level.
