ICE Increases Deportations of Criminal Illegal Immigrants

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has intensified its deportation efforts, targeting more illegal immigrants who have committed serious crimes, including offenses related to child exploitation, domestic violence, and assaults.

“Just last week, ICE officials successfully deported a number of illegal immigrants, among them individuals with histories of serious criminal activity,” commented Markwayne Mullin, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Among those deported is Miguel Baltazar-Bernal from Mexico, who has previous convictions for sexual intercourse with a minor, spousal abuse, possession of firearms as a felon, and illegal entry, among other offenses. Baltazar-Bernal had been deported six times and had a final deportation order issued by a federal immigration judge back in 1995.

ICE also deported Omer Karahodzic from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who has a record that includes multiple counts of assault against corrections officers, wanton endangerment, and drunk driving. He has faced charges for kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment, and a federal judge ordered his deportation in July 2025.

Additionally, Altiman Peterkin of Jamaica was deported following convictions for assaulting a family member. He had also faced charges for rape and threats of murder. Peterkin entered the U.S. legally in November 2014 but overstayed his visa soon after, leading to his deportation order in July of this year.

ICE has also taken action against Teofilo Ramos-Ramos from Guatemala and Cecilia Gonzalez-Chavez from Mexico. Ramos-Ramos has a history of charges related to false imprisonment and drunk driving causing injury. Gonzalez-Chavez has been convicted of aggravated assault. Ramos-Ramos was ordered deported in December 2022, while Gonzalez-Chavez received her deportation order in September 2023 but illegally re-entered the U.S. in November 2023 before being released into the interior.

“Surveys show that about eighty percent of Americans back the deportation of criminal illegal immigrants,” Mullin noted. “Every day, DHS is fulfilling President Trump’s promise to the American public to remove illegal aliens and enhance safety in our communities.”
