ICE says illegal alien was arrested for child molestation after Virginia police ignored detainer on prior molestation charge

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that an illegal alien was arrested on child sexual abuse charges after local authorities ignored an ICE detainee on previous sex abuse charges.

ICE issued press release It details the arrest of an anonymous 30-year-old immigrant at his home in Bladensburg, Maryland, on April 15th.

The Honduran national was arrested in July and charged with a felony count of providing sexual knowledge to a 13- to 14-year-old child by force, according to the release.

According to ICE, officers sent a detainer to take the man into custody for possible deportation, but the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center denied the request and issued a $10,000 fine on July 10. The man was released after posting bail.

Fairfax police then arrested the same immigrant in February on two of the same charges and one felony count of indecent assault on a child under 15.

Fairfax authorities released him again the same day before ICE released any detainees.

Deportation agents arrested him in April and notified him to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge, ICE said.

Liana Castano, ICE Field Director for Removal Operations, slammed Fairfax officials for ignoring detainees’ requests and allowing undocumented immigrants to reoffend.

“This Honduran non-national has been charged with several very serious crimes and poses a threat to children in the Washington, D.C., area,” Castano said.

“If local governments have policies in place that prohibit cooperation with ICE ERO or the execution of lawfully issued detainer or administrative warrants, they may It puts people in our communities at risk.” He added, “ERO Washington, DC will continue to prioritize public safety by capturing and removing the most egregious noncitizen threats from our neighborhoods.”

A similar incident occurred in December, when Fairfax authorities ignored a 21-year-old immigrant from Honduras, also an ICE detainee who allegedly raped a minor and produced child pornography.

ICE officials also criticized local authorities at the time for ignoring detainees.

“When ICE detainees are ignored by local authorities, the public is put at risk. Unfortunately, in this case, a person in Virginia has been charged with sexually abusing a minor and producing a child. “Sexual abuse material resulted in unnecessary injury to federal law enforcement officers while prosecuting the arrest of a non-citizen,” said Field Office Deputy Director Eric Weiss.
