ICE Workplace Enforcement Action in Texas Lands 20 Migrants in Removal Process

HOUSTON, Texas – The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) agent conducted a workplace enforcement operation north of Houston, leading to the arrest of 20 undocumented workers. The workers were taken to the Montgomery County Processing Center in Conroe, Texas.

An ICE spokesman said HSI agents have carried out a workplace execution project at Texas Couplings, LLC. It will be held in Spring, Texas on March 4th. The agent traveled to the location to investigate alleged violations of US employment law. The investigation continued to find possible inconsistencies during an I-9 employment qualification audit.

A video published by Fox 26 Houston shows ice agents escorting undocumented workers' alleged undocumented workers from a facility between Houston and Conroe. People standing outside the company can hear the challenge of ice agents.

According to the company's website, Texas Coupling High quality couplings and casings are provided for the oil field industry.

An ICE official said he could not comment further on the issue due to “an ongoing investigation into alleged violations of federal law.”
According to ICE:

The Immigration Reform Act of 1986 (IRCA) requires employers to verify the identity and job eligibility of all individuals hired by employers and document that information using Employment Qualification Verification Form I-9.

ICE HSI uses the I-9 testing program to promote compliance with the law, part of a comprehensive strategy that addresses and hinders illegal employment. Testing is one of the most powerful tools the federal government uses to ensure that businesses are compliant with US employment laws.

ICE HSI's workplace enforcement strategy involves the use of other areas of research from the agency, as workplace investigations often include alien smuggling, human trafficking, money laundering, document fraud, workers' exploitation and/or additional criminal activity such as substandard wages and working conditions.

By ensuring that employers employ legally verified employees, ICE protects the employment of US citizens, protects the employment of legally employed individuals, eliminates unfair competitive advantages, and enhances public safety and national security.

Following the action at the company, we were able to see the ice ban and escort vehicles leaving the scene.
