Kohberger was studying for his Ph.D. PhD in criminology and criminal justice from Washington State University at the time of murder. The University of Idaho is just 10 miles from WSU.

Kohberger is charged with murdering four University of Idaho students at an off-campus home early on November 13, 2022.
