IDF Destroys Hezbollah Tunnel Extending 10m into Israeli Territory

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Tuesday that it had discovered and destroyed a Hezbollah tunnel that stretched 10 meters into Israeli territory, but had no entrance to mainland Israel.

Hezbollah has built a network of underground tunnels and bunkers across southern Lebanon, but these are not used as defensive fortifications, but as forward positions from which to launch attacks on Israel, including rocket attacks and future special forces raids. As.

The Israel Defense Forces discovered and dismantled a Hezbollah underground tunnel that traversed approximately 10 meters from Lebanon's Marwahin district into Israeli territory near the Zarit community. The tunnel, built several months ago, is closed near the border and has no exit into Israeli territory. The tunnel was discovered as part of an Israeli Defense Force operation to dismantle Hezbollah's terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon.

IDF troops, including special forces, scanned the tunnel and found weapons, explosives and anti-tank missiles.

The tunnel was kept under full operational control until soldiers arrived on the scene to prevent its use for terrorist activities.

At present, apart from this tunnel, there are no known tunnels that enter Israel from Lebanon.
