IDF Kills 3 Sons of Hamas Political Leader Ismail Haniyeh in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed three sons of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in an airstrike in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday.

The IDF said in a statement:

Earlier today (Wednesday), IAF aircraft under the direction of the IDF and ISA intelligence agencies attacked three Hamas military operatives carrying out terrorist activities in the central Gaza Strip.

The three operatives attacked are Amir Haniyeh, a cell commander of the Hamas military wing, Mohammad Haniyeh, a military operative of the Hamas terrorist organization, and Hazem Haniyeh, a military operative of the Hamas terrorist organization.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that the three operatives are the sons of Hamas’s political director, Ismail Haniyeh.

Mr. Haniya has a net worth of $4 billion, profiting from smuggling in Gaza and various investments. Like other Hamas leaders, he lived far from Gaza, living in luxurious exile in Doha, Qatar, and moving between safe havens in Qatar, Turkey, Iran, Russia, and elsewhere. They come and go on jet planes.

It is unclear whether the airstrikes will have any impact on ongoing negotiations in Cairo, Egypt, over the possible release of Israeli hostages.
