IDF Posts Directions After Anti-Israel Journalists Claim No Hezbollah ‘Vault’ Under Hospital

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Tuesday that journalists had not been able to find the exact instructions to a Hezbollah safe containing $500 million in cash and gold in the basement of Al Sahel Hospital in Beirut, Lebanon. provided.

As Breitbart News reported, on Monday, the Israel Defense Forces released a video claiming that a safe stacked with Iranian funds is part of a complex beneath a hospital. The IDF stressed that there was no plan to attack the hospital, but urged Lebanon not to allow Iran-backed Hezbollah to use cash or gold to finance terrorist attacks.

The hospital was evacuated, but the hospital director claimed there was no vault beneath the hospital. Several journalists took part in a tour of the hospital and asserted that no such safe was found on the premises.

For example, anti-Israel, pro-Russian correspondent Steve Sweeney posted on X (formerly Twitter):

In response, IDF Arabic spokesperson Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani posted the exact directions to the vault and noted that the entrance to the vault is not in the hospital itself, but in an adjacent building that can be accessed from the basement. Showed.

Israel has physically targeted various financial and economic assets of Hezbollah during the past two days of fighting.

Although the IDF does not target hospitals as a matter of policy or compliance with international law, it has been fighting Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip who have used hospitals to launch attacks, store weapons, and hide hostages. Hospitals lose their protected status under international humanitarian law when they are used for military or non-medical purposes.

The IDF also on Tuesday pushed back against claims that it had carried out an airstrike near Beirut's Rafik Hariri Hospital, saying it had struck a Hezbollah terrorist target rather than a hospital. According to Times of Israel.

False claims that the IDF targets hospitals have become a staple of anti-Israeli media coverage since the alleged targeting of al-Ahly Hospital in the Gaza Strip last October. In fact, the hospital's parking lot had been hit by a rocket accidentally fired by another Iranian-backed terrorist organization, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Nevertheless, the media reported sensational and off-the-cuff claims by the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health that 500 people had been killed.
