The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) struck Hezbollah targets in Beirut and southern Lebanon on Friday after terrorist groups previously launched rockets in towns in northern Israel and violated a ceasefire that began in November.
In two statements, the IDF said:
This morning (Friday), the projectile was fired from Lebanon towards the upper Galilee region in northern Israel.
The attack constitutes a blatant violation of understanding between Israel and Lebanon, poses a direct threat to Israeli civilians.
Lebanon is responsible for supporting the agreement.
Some time ago, the IDF attacked a terrorist infrastructure site used to store UAVs by Hezbollah aviation units (127) in the area of Dahie, a major Hezbollar terrorist hub in Beirut.
The Hezbola Terrorist organization systematically embedded terrorist infrastructure among Lebanese civilians. This is a clear example of the ironic exploitation of Hezbollah's Lebanese civilians as human shields.
The IDF issued a pre-war warning to civilians in the area.
The IDF will continue to take the risk of removing the threat to Israeli civilians.
Over the past few hours, the IDF has attacked Hezbollah Command Centers, Terrorist Infrastructure sites, launchers and terrorists in southern Lebanon.
The launch attack from Lebanon this morning (Friday) into the Upper Galilee region of northern Israel constitutes a blatant violation of understanding between Israel and Lebanon, poses a direct threat to Israeli civilians.
Lebanon is responsible for supporting the agreement.
The IDF works to remove threats to Israeli civilians.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu added (translated from Hebrew by government press).
Those who have not yet internalized the new situation in Lebanon have been further reminded of our resolve.
The equation has been changed. Priority priorities by October 7th will not be reissued. We do not allow fire in the community.
We will continue to enforce the ceasefire strongly. They attack any threat to the Israeli state anywhere in Lebanon. Ensures that all residents of the North will return safely to their homes.
New rocket fires occurred when Israel and Lebanon took measures to achieve formal peace and normalization, but many Lebanon leaders have publicly opposed such measures.
