Ilhan Omar Asserts Without Proof That Republicans Desire Kamala Harris's Death

Ilhan Omar’s Accusation Against Republicans

Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar recently asserted that Republicans are attempting to jeopardize former Vice President Kamala Harris’s safety during an interview on Thursday.

Omar’s remarks were captured by Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, at the organization’s “Proof Me Wrong” event held at Utah Valley University. During the event, participants had the opportunity to ask questions, and Omar mentioned the cessation of Harris’s Secret Service protection, as discussed in an interview with Zeteo News.

“Michael Hernandez posed an intriguing question on YouTube. Why has the former vice president’s Secret Service protection been withdrawn, especially given the current climate?” Mehdi Hasan, Zeteo News’s founder, commented. “It seems Trump has been willing to disregard the protection for Harris and others he dislikes, which is rather concerning. I’m not a fan of John Bolton, but I wouldn’t wish harm on him either.”

“It’s interesting because they never seem worried, even when receiving threats. They’ve shot at houses, and people are showing up at their homes. It’s as if they don’t care about Harris’s security. Ultimately, they seem indifferent to her well-being. This is the reality we face, and it’s strange because we’re often left questioning what norms we should adhere to,” Omar stated.

In the same discussion, Omar also suggested that Kirk should “reach out to those who remember him fondly” and called some of his supporters “full of shit.”

Typically, former vice presidents, along with their spouses and children, can receive Secret Service protection for a period of six months after leaving office. In Harris’s case, her protection extended past the usual timeline, officially ending on September 1, after being set to conclude on August 28, 2025.

Former President Donald Trump faced two assassination attempts during the 2024 presidential campaign—the first occurring at a rally in Pennsylvania, and the second while golfing in Florida. He had also survived an assassination attempt in 2016 when a British man tried to take a police officer’s gun during a campaign event in Las Vegas.
