Comer Critiques Omar’s Recent Remarks on Trump
James Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, didn’t hold back when responding to Rep. Ilhan Omar’s recent comments. Omar, known for her strong opposition to President Trump, seemed to lose her cool after Trump discussed alleged fraud in Minnesota on Fox Business, claiming over $19 billion had been stolen in the state.
In a post on X, Omar hinted at serious accusations against Trump, labeling him a “pedophile” and suggesting he deserved execution. She shared a video clip where Trump also took aim at her, mentioning, “In Somalia, pedophiles are executed rather than elected.”
Comer (R-Ky.) quickly came to Trump’s defense, saying members of the “Squad” like Omar should refrain from speaking unless they clarify why her husband’s net worth has suddenly skyrocketed. He said, “Ilhan Omar is probably the only one who should keep quiet.” On NewsNation’s “Katie Pavlich Tonight,” he stated that if Omar tweets criticisms, she needs to answer how her wealth increased from nothing to $10 million in just one year and address why the Biden Justice Department was investigating her husband’s finances during that time.
Although Trump’s name appears in Epstein’s documents, there’s no solid proof of his involvement in any wrongdoing. Trump has often referenced Omar’s connections to Somalia amid the unfolding scandal in Minnesota.
Comer implied that if Omar has such strong feelings about Somalia, perhaps she should consider returning there. He commented further on the alarming levels of fraud tied to Somali welfare programs, urging Omar to remain silent on the matter.
Interestingly, Omar’s wealth, which some estimates suggest may be around $30 million, has raised eyebrows, especially considering her husband’s business saw a significant increase in value recently. As previously noted by various sources, his firm, Rose Lake Capital, jumped from nearly nothing to between $5 million and $25 million this year. Additionally, his winery business was also accused of fraud and saw its value climb from $1 million to $5 million.
Comer reiterated that the investigation into her husband’s financial dealings, which contributed to Omar’s growing net worth, poses straightforward questions that need clear answers.
