Ilhan Omar criticizes Somali voters following her loss in Minneapolis: 'We need to remove these people'

Minneapolis Mayor’s Controversial Comments

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a Democrat, has been labeled a “radical leftist” by Blaze TV Host Liz Wheeler. This characterization seems accurate given the circumstances.

Meanwhile, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has expressed her frustration over the recent mayoral elections, particularly targeting her Somali-American opponent, Omar Fateh, after his defeat. In an emotional speech delivered in Somali—likely to obscure her message from non-Somali speakers—Omar shared her feelings.

“When Somalis become enemies, they become serious enemies,” she declared, voicing the sentiment that there are harmful individuals within their community. “Some say he talks too much, others just ignore it and think, ‘Leave him alone, he’s family.’ But those people? We need to remove them,” she insisted.

Omar continued, stating that their community struggles against misinformation, adding, “I have a job, and I can’t be spending my days defending myself.”

Her message was quite clear: the focus should be on the community’s empowerment. “We’re busy protecting you and our country,” she noted, urging for action against those who undermine Somali advancement.

Wheeler remarked on Omar’s alignment with the Democratic Socialists of America, suggesting that her ideology closely resembles that of figures like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. “Omar often presents herself as a candidate from the radical faction of the Democratic Party, yet Frey actually embodies these characteristics,” Wheeler claimed.

If Omar seeks someone aligned with progressive ideologies, she should recognize that Frey already fits that mold. “His recent victory speech included Somali, which shows his level of pandering,” Wheeler added.

Notably, Wheeler pointed out that Omar’s motivations may extend beyond politics, suggesting a deeper, maybe religious, agenda. “For her, the ultimate aim is Islam,” she stated, indicating that Omar’s rhetoric sometimes aligns with a sort of fundamentalist tone.

On the flip side, Omar Fateh is also under scrutiny. He has connections to controversial figures and was previously involved in a significant terrorism financing case, as noted by Wheeler, who emphasized that Omar supported him despite his questionable past.
