I’ll ‘Never’ Support Spending Bill with Debt Limit Increase, Need Disaster, Ag. Spending with Pay-Fors

On Wednesday's broadcast of Bloomberg's “Balance of Power,” Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) said the spending bill must include disaster relief funding and money for farmers, but that spending It said it must be fully offset by other spending cuts to government programs. The Biden administration said it would support it, but not if disaster relief and farm spending are not paid for, and it would not support legislation that would raise the debt ceiling.

“What we need to do to get my vote is include disaster relief, include funding for farmers, fully offset by the cuts needed to make that happen,” Norman said. “It's a program that Biden put in place that we all know about in government right now.” No way — it came with a price tag that never should have been…[paid] for. It's not that difficult. Now, if it's just borrowing money and printing it out of thin air, then no, I would never support it. And I don't think a majority of the Freedom Caucus agrees, and in fact, if this is just a wasteful bill, it will be interesting to see how the vote goes. ”

Norman added that raising the debt ceiling in the bill is “insane” and that he would “never” support it.
