Illegal alien mob allegedly assaults NYPD officers checking on children’s safety: ‘Punching, kicking, and shoving’

A group of illegal immigrants apparently attacked two New York Police Department officers outside a hotel in Queens on Monday morning, law enforcement sources said. New York Post.

The officers were reportedly trying to check on three unsupervised children outside a Long Island City hotel that had been converted into a shelter for illegal immigrants. When two officers confronted a group of adults nearby around 4:30 a.m. Monday, the illegal immigrants attacked the two officers, sources told The Post.

“A group of approximately five adults began punching, kicking and shoving the officers.”

Four suspects, Juan Munoz, 25, Alejandro Munoz, 42, Karina Navarro Chavez, 42, and Miguel Chiruisa, 23, were arrested and charged with assault, attempted assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration. Three of the suspects, Juan, Alejandro Munoz and Navarro Chavez, also face child endangerment charges.

Prosecutors said Chiruisa was arrested about an hour after the altercation as he tried to flee the scene. He also faces second- and third-degree charges of escape.

The female suspect, who fled the scene, is accused of hitting one of the officers with a child’s bicycle.

“To ensure the safety of the children, officers approached a group of adults nearby to ensure the children were being supervised,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said.

“At that point, the group of approximately five adults began punching, kicking and shoving the officer, and two of the assailants threw bicycles at the officers,” Katz explained.

The men were summoned to appear before Judge Edward Daniels on Tuesday. Despite the DA’s request that the suspects be held without bail, Judge Daniels set bail at $50,000 cash or $150,000 surety for each suspect. The men are scheduled to appear again on Friday, The Post reported.

The two officers who were assaulted during the altercation suffered injuries including abrasions and shoulder pain and were treated at a nearby hospital.

Earlier this year, a group of undocumented men attacked two NYPD officers in Times Square. The attack, recorded on video, showed the men punching and kicking the officers before running away to avoid arrest. Last month, Manhattan’s soft-on-crime District Attorney Alvin Bragg offered plea deals to six undocumented immigrants.

In February, a group of undocumented immigrants residing at a Randalls Island shelter were captured on video throwing various objects at NYPD officers who were attempting to arrest someone who was refusing to leave the premises.
