An illegal alien who successfully crossed the U.S.-Mexico border without being detected by Border Patrol has been charged with raping a child in the sanctuary state of Massachusetts.
Mayor Francisco Hernandez-Rodas, 38, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was the first crossed He crossed the border as a so-called “fugitive” before being convicted of breach of peace in Bridgeport, Conn., in September 2011.
At the time, Hernandez-Rodas was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for one year.
Then, in May 2016, Hernandez-Rodas was again found guilty of breach of peace in Norwalk, Connecticut, and was fined only $100.
In June of this year, Hernandez-Rodas was arrested in Lowell, Massachusetts on charges of aggravated rape of a child and forcible rape of a child. Days after his arrest, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents ordered Mr. Hernandez-Rodas into custody and requested that he be released into custody.
On September 4, Hernandez-Rodas was indicted on child rape charges. Middlesex Superior Court ignored ICE's detainer on Hernandez-Rodas and released him into the community on an unknown date.
On September 20, ICE agents located and arrested Hernandez-Rodas in Lowell. Illegal aliens are in ICE custody awaiting deportation from the United States
“Mayor Francisco Hernandez-Rodas is accused of horrific crimes against children in Massachusetts,” ICE official Patricia Hyde said in a statement. “He represents a grave danger to the children of our community, and we cannot tolerate that. We will continue to prioritize safety.”
