Neighbor Stabbed 50 Times Over Noise Dispute
An illegal immigrant has been accused of stabbing his upstairs neighbor 50 times in his Long Island apartment, allegedly over the noise created by her high-heeled shoes. Prosecutors revealed this on Tuesday as the suspect entered a not guilty plea for the murders of two women.
Ronnie Yahir Alvarenga Rivera, 22, reportedly told police that he killed his neighbor, Eddie Raquel Hernandez Castillo, on April 30 because the noise from her heels and loud phone conversations drove him insane.
Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly informed the press that Rivera was “irritated” by the sounds she made. When authorities apprehended him, his clothes were reportedly stained with blood.
According to federal records, Rivera, who entered the U.S. illegally in 2016 as a 12-year-old from El Salvador, has a complex background.
Prosecutors mentioned that Rivera expressed intentions of a second attack because he was aware of the inevitable consequences following the first murder.
On May 1, shortly after midnight, he allegedly waited outside a Lynbrook Wendy’s for nearly 30 minutes before ambushing his co-worker, Ana María de Aguila Cordova, a 42-year-old mother of three, as she took out the trash.
The District Attorney’s office stated that Rivera had a “bad relationship” with Cordova and felt “disrespected,” which led him to brutally stab her more than 30 times.
After the violent acts, Rivera allegedly called the police himself from a nearby location.
Despite reportedly confessing to both murders, Rivera pleaded not guilty to the charges during his court appearance on Tuesday.
