Illegal masterminds of NYC robbery ring hacked bank apps, resold stolen phones overseas

New York City police on Monday announced a property crimes crackdown and several arrests following a raid on an immigrant robbery ring with ties to Venezuela and a scheme that used electric scooters. This is because a group of suspects in the NYPD attack are still on the loose.

“While a wave of immigrant crimes has hit our city in recent months, the people committing these crimes are in no way representative of the vast numbers of people who come to New York to build a better life. There is no one there,” NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban said at a news conference. Afternoon news conference.

He likened the gangs to a group of ghosts, illegal aliens who don’t have phones, social media, and in some cases don’t know their names or dates of birth.

NYPD officials said many of the suspects were living in immigrant shelters and had recently arrived in the United States.

At a press conference Monday afternoon, NYPD leaders named eight suspects connected to the ring: alleged ringleader Victor Parra, as well as Claver Andrada, Juan Uzkatuy, Yan Jimenez and Anthony. Ramos, Richard Saledo, Beike Jimenez, and Maria Manaura.

Police said Parra would connect scammers around the Big Apple, who may not have known each other, to heist missions and send them notifications about specific cell phone models he wanted. They then stole a scooter and went into town, taking the victim’s cell phone and wallet.

said Sergeant John Chell of the New York City Police Department. FOX5 New York Earlier in the day, it was revealed that a spike in robberies and snatchings using mopeds and scooters has a direct correlation to the current immigration crisis gripping the Big Apple.

While police took a tough stance on immigration, Mr. Adams blamed Republicans in Washington on the issue and charged some of the nearly 200,000 immigrants and asylum seekers who recently arrived in New York City with organized crime groups. He pointed out that only a handful of them had been.

“Republicans have been blocking real immigration reform for years,” Adams said. “It’s time to address this real problem that’s impacting not just New York but the city.”

Separately, law enforcement officials say several of the suspects seen on security video kicking two New York City police officers in the head last week have ties to a Venezuelan theft ring.

There was no solid link between the robbery syndicates and police brutality, except that both groups had ties to Venezuelan nationals and migrant shelters.

Separately, investigators announced early Monday that the arrests also involved a “Venezuelan crew” suspected in more than 60 wallet and phone robberies across the city. However, there was no evidence that the two separate groups shared a connection.

But critics say New York’s Democratic-led bail reform means many criminals are released soon after their arrest, rendering any crackdown by law enforcement pointless.

“This city has laws that dictate what can be done with undocumented immigrants and asylum seekers,” he added. “That’s the law. I didn’t pass that law.”
