Reports show that a Mexican citizen who has already been deported has been arrested and charged with murder in multiple shootings in Michigan.
Police in Alpine Township, a northern suburb of Grand Rapids; charging Gilberto Hernandez-Mendez, 42, left one death and two wounded on 11 charges, including murder, attempted murder and numerous weapons crimes resulting from the February 22 incident, WWMT-TV reported.
Investigators allege Hernandez Mendes shot three women at a residence in an alpine town around 2:30am after a “domestic conflict.”
Upon arriving at the scene, officers died of 56-year-old Norma Ramirez Martinez. The deceased was the mother of the suspect's ex-girlfriend. Both her girlfriend and another woman were injured in the shooting. His girlfriend's two daughters were also injured, police said.
The suspect, who used the wrong name, escaped from the scene, but was arrested in just over four hours.
“It was a domestic conflict. This is a bit of a concern.” I said Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker; “This is the third in Kent County in the past. All you know is, like the moon we already had domestic violence-related murders.”
Becker also noted that the suspect had already been deported once.
“It's a federal accusation and we don't deal with them, but accusations that he was taken from the country because he came illegally before he was previously removed,” Becker explained.
Hernandez Mendes has his past records and also had an immigrant detainee on him, previously marked for deportation.
He has been arrested and is currently at Kent County Correctional Facility.
Tommy Simspon, a Coroma Township police officer who arrested him for “I feel good and cleans up violent suspects,” I said WXMI-TV.
