An illegal immigrant from Brazil recently charged with child rape was arrested after a Massachusetts district court ignored a request from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain him and released him back into society.

ERO Boston deportation officers arrested a 20-year-old man on March 28 near his home in Lowell, Massachusetts.
“This Brazilian non-national is accused of sexually abusing minors in Massachusetts,” Todd Lyons, director of ICE’s Boston field office, said in a statement. “Every second he roams freely within our community, he represents a potential threat to the children of our community. We always prioritize public safety.”
