Browsers are one of the biggest culprits
Those who are hoarding taboos, I’m talking to you. When you are finished using an article, site, etc., delete it.
1-minute technology changes to improve privacy
Pro tip: Close the current tab by pressing Ctrl + W on Windows or Cmd + W on Mac. If there are 25 tabs, press and hold. Ctrl (Windows) or command (Mac) and click multiple tabs to select them all at once.hit now Ctrl + W or Cmd+W To make them all disappear.
Now let’s take a look at some more useful settings. Hardware acceleration is the term used to speed up your browser by using available hardware, such as memory, processor, and installed graphics cards. Most browsers offer this handy little adjustment.
- In Chrome settings, system tab.
- In Microsoft Edge settings, System and performance.
- In Firefox, it’s located here: general tab. This is referred to here as “recommended performance settings.”
If you use Safari on your Mac, Apple has already turned on hardware acceleration.
clean up the mess
You probably have a lot of files on your computer that you no longer need. They eat up space and slow down almost everything you do. It’s easy to get started here.
- Empty the trash. When you delete a file, it is moved to the Recycle Bin and waits for permanent action to be taken. To get them out of purgatory, right-click the Recycle Bin (Trash on Mac) and delete them.
- Clear temporary files. They are created to help apps and processes run without problems, or to help transfer data or other processes. Over time, they take up a lot of space.
- For Windows: Open and select the C: drive. Windows folder, then temp (C:\Windows\Temp). Press Ctrl + A to select all and press Delete.
- On Mac,[Finder]Move to[移動]>[フォルダーに移動]Choose. You should see ~/Library/Caches/. All temporary files will open in a new window. Delete them, then empty the Trash.

A typical problem with older computers: The boot process takes a long time. You can’t fix everything at once, but adjusting what starts every time you boot can make a difference.

Here’s how to see which apps load when Windows starts.
- [スタート]Click on the menu.
- [設定](gear icon) and[アプリ]Click.
- Click Startup in the left menu. It should be your last option.
[スタートアップ]The panel displays all the apps installed on your machine. If Windows measures the app’s impact on your PC, you’ll see a rating next to it. Options include “No Impact,” “Low Impact,” “Moderate Impact,” and “High Impact.”
High-impact apps may experience slow startup times. Check the list to identify apps that you don’t need immediately after startup. Toggle the slider next to each app to turn it on or off.

For Mac:
- Click the Apple menu and go to System Preferences.
- Click Users and Groups.
- Select your user account and click in the top right corner[ログイン項目]Click.
Here you will see a list of applications that open automatically when you log in.
To prevent an app from running automatically,[ログイン項目を削除する]Click.Then select the name of the app you want to block and click[削除]Click the button. You can use the checkboxes to hide the items you want to launch. To add a new item, press the plus sign below the list and find it on your computer.
