On Thursday, Fox News' “Your World” anchor Neil Kabuto announced his departure from the network after 28 years on the air by thanking viewers and hinting at future endeavors. .
A partial transcription follows:
Kavuto: Today, I would also like to tell you that this is my last show. I'm leaving Fox. I've been planning this day for a while. It seemed like the time was right. Now, some of you may be thinking, Neil, it's about time. After all, I've been doing this here for almost 30 years. You know, there are people working with me now who weren't even born when I joined Fox. I'm about that age. But I'm not quitting journalism, I'm just leaving here. But I'm forever grateful to my bosses here. They have been very good to me all these years and have offered me a very generous opportunity to stay here for more. Considering the fact that I might have taken a day or two off here and there while battling everything from multiple sclerosis and COVID-19 to countless infections and even open heart surgery. And this is quite surprising. Then I got one bad hangnail after another. Don't even get me started on that.
I may have been unlucky health-wise, but I've been very lucky with the support I've had here and being able to do what I want to do here. Don't shout the news, don't rant about the news, don't name-call, report the news. Just call balls and strikes. In the wake of this news, truth to power and fairness to all. that's it. That's me. But even though I can see, the people behind me can't actually see. The producers, writers, cameramen and directors took me through the years on three shows. And it can be quite hard work. So blame them. If I said something to offend you, apparently I've done a lot. But for now, I'm resting and saving my biggest gratitude for last. For all of you who have let me into your home over the years. My father used to say to me, “Neil, stay humble, it will serve you well.''
I don't think he ever imagined my incredible run, but I think he reminds me to be grateful to those who made it possible. everyone. Understood. The truth is, most people ignore the mean people who call me fat. As I've often said, I forget that cameras add 50 pounds until a guy looks directly at me and says, “Neil, that's it.” It wasn't the camera or the email that told me I was doing something I thought was anatomically impossible. I was excited about them.
In fact, I was excited about all of them. Let me just say you kept me grounded. My Irish mother used to say that we should count our blessings and never forget who blessed us. Ultimately, that should be our focus. And that's mine tonight. Not all the things that divide us and all the bad things that have made us suffer, but something far more important that unites us, defines us, and lifts us up. I tried to appeal to my better angels and I am grateful that you gave me that opportunity. That's why I say goodbye with only good thoughts and good wishes. I hope you have a merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season. May the new year be as fulfilling as the last nearly 30 years. you blessed me That means a lot. So are you. Thank you and good night.
