Comedian Delivers Mocking Cake to Late Senator’s Office
A comedian and lecturer at George Washington University claimed on Tuesday that she brought a cake with a mocking message to the office of the late U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) at the Capitol in Washington, D.C.
In a post on social media, Elizabeth Booker Houston shared a photo of the cake, which featured an image of Graham and the words “Congratulations!”
“I just delivered this cake to Lindsey Graham’s office. Congratulations, darling! Your brother is burning in hell, and now you’re working for the devil!” read her post.
Breitbart News looked into Houston’s LinkedIn profile, where she describes herself as a political consultant and commentator, as well as a visiting lecturer at George Washington University and an adjunct professor at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
She is also noted to have performed comedy at the New York Comedy Club, according to her profile.
Reports indicate that Graham passed away at the age of 71 late Saturday due to a “short-term sudden illness.” Following his death, his sister, Darling Graham Nordon, took over as U.S. senator pro tempore to finish his term.
The term of the late senator is set to expire at the end of the 119th Congress on January 3, 2027.
“Please raise your right hand,” instructed Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) as she took the oath of office. He asked if she would uphold the Constitution and discharge her duties faithfully, to which Graham Nordon replied, “I think so.”
Houston has faced backlash for her claims regarding the cake delivery.
Congressman William Timmons (R-SC) shared his concerns, stating he hoped appropriate action would be taken against the “guest lecturer” and tagging George Washington University. His comment included a quip about mental health counseling as a part of her employment.
Senator Jim Banks (R-Indiana) suggested that Indiana University should take stronger action against her.
Criticism of Houston also appeared from various social media users, with some denouncing her actions as hateful. One user remarked, “Antagonizing the family of someone who has recently died is a sadistic act that no one should engage in.”
