Imitation TV President Martin Sheen Offers Genuine President Donald Trump Guidance on Authentic Leadership: ‘Begin Being Human’

Actor Martin Sheen gained popularity among liberals in the early 2000s for portraying President Jed Bartlet in NBC’s acclaimed series. Now, he’s offering real-life President Donald Trump some advice about navigating the White House.

Sheen appeared on MSNBC Saturday, joining left-leaning commentator Nicole Wallace on her show, where he shared his thoughts on presidential responsibilities, despite never having held office.

The actor expressed that Americans have a strong desire for authenticity, which he believes President Trump is failing to provide.

“There’s a fierce struggle happening. It’s not just about winning or losing. It’s about reconnecting with our own humanity, something that’s quite absent in this administration,” he asserted.

Sheen also criticized President Trump and his administration for their perceived arrogance.

“I firmly believe this: When you look at the folks around the table in the White House Cabinet room, they see no one better than themselves. Often, it’s just a reflection of their worst selves. There are no heroes there. No music or laughter. Just a lack of genuine joy. It’s filled with ego, fear, and misplaced admiration,” Sheen detailed.

He continued to elaborate on the concept of “humanity,” urging Trump and his team to embrace it.

“If you’re fortunate enough to let go and accept the chance of starting with basically nothing but your humanity, you come to realize, ‘Oh my goodness, being human is all we need,’” Sheen noted. “We’re all flawed, and there’s beauty in that because, without flaws, nothing can change us.”

Sheen didn’t hold back in his critique of Trump, labeling him “the biggest nothing in the world.”

“To those around you, stop heeding the sycophants who make you feel less than human,” he urged. “Reconnect with that humanity. Don’t fuss over your hair, don’t fixate on your tie, hold yourself upright, speak clearly—not from your throat, but from your heart. You were made for humanity, not just golf. So, there it is, Mr. President, with all due respect.”
