Fake Mel Gibson Account Sparks Governor Buzz
A social media account claiming to be run by actor Mel Gibson hinted at a potential run for California governor, causing quite a stir among fans and followers. The post, which stated, “People keep asking if I would step up for California,” quickly went viral, racking up over 360,000 views by Friday morning.
This came from the @official_mel_Gb account, which is verified. As excitement spread, many fans voiced their support for Gibson’s hypothetical candidacy.
The post went on to declare, “Here’s what I know: Our state needs courage, faith, and common sense. Do not be afraid. No corruption. There will be no surrender. California can rise again.” This message garnered a flood of responses, with over a thousand fans expressing enthusiasm for a Gibson-led campaign.
One user remarked, “It takes you and people like you with courage and faith and common sense to step up and show them. So are you going to do that?” while another exclaimed, “Absolutely! Who wouldn’t vote for Braveheart?” A third chimed in with, “I’ll knock on the door for you, my brother.”
The real Mel Gibson has not held back in his critiques aimed at California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. In a previous interview, he labeled their leadership as incompetent, particularly during disasters like the Los Angeles wildfires.
He expressed concern about the state’s current climate, stating, “We are experiencing widespread lawlessness and civil unrest, and it has never been clearer than this.” According to him, the leadership appears unable to respond effectively, attributing their failures to either incompetence or malice.
Interestingly, Gibson has been in the spotlight as a leading Republican candidate for the governor’s position. In a poll from March, he topped the list of Republican candidates with 12% support, although he previously dismissed rumors about his candidacy.
