In an interview with ABC News on Monday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is said to be responsive to reports about Trump administration members and sharing sensitive details about Yemen's strike. He then responded to questions about whether Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), the leader of the Senate minority, would seek an investigation into the issue, stating that Schumer is engaged in a “political attack.”
Cruz said, “Well, this was obviously a mess, to add a reporter to this signal chain, and I'm sure it's not going to happen again.”
Cruz then praised the Trump administration for taking action against the Hoosis.
Host Lindsey Davis said, “Schumer, the leader of the minority, asked for an investigation into how this happened. Would you support it?”
Cruz replied, “Well, listen, Chuck Schumer's immediate response won't surprise me. [to] Engage in political attacks. It's obviously, all Democrats today are political attacks, and Schumer has the real incentive to do that. His left flank, he is worried about his left flank, as he is now threatening to primary him. I have to say, I'm curious to see why Schumer and the Democrats have not been concerned about the fact that for the past four years, the Houches have been allowed to engage in terrorism against the US, American allies, to increase the costs of consumers. ”
He added.[I]The T was clearly screwed. It was inadvertent to include Jeffrey Goldberg, and it was obvious that it was confusing and embarrassing confusion. But I say there is a big difference. For that point, the Trump White House immediately took responsibility and says that this was a real deal, this was a real exchange and that was a mistake. And it was the right thing to take responsibility for that. It's very different [what] Hillary Clinton and Democrats, where they obfuscated, denying them, trying to hide things for months and months. ”
